TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF AND YOUR DESIGNS?

My name is Hagit Hazan. I've been designing under the name HOKO since 2010, after graduating from Bezalel academy of arts and design in Jerusalem.

I live and work in Tel Aviv, sharing a studio with my partner, a graphic designer, and raising two kids. My designs are for everyday wear, nonchalant on the one hand and feminine on the other, complementary and sophisticated. I use primarily natural fabrics, focusing on comfort, quality and unique details.

WHAT INSPIRES YOUR WORK?

Architecture, minimalism and graphic design are a big part of what inspires me. This  translates into graphic lines, volume and playing with symmetry vs asymmetry in my designs.

WHAT ARE YOU WORKING ON RIGHT NOW?

We are currently producing our SS19 collection. I played a lot with volume and folds, in brighter colours than our usual monochromatic colour scheme.

What do you love to do when you're not working?

I consider Hoko to be my third child. So when I'm not at the studio working, I love spending time with the other two. Taking a few days abroad is my favourite thing to do. Go to another city, walk around, check out museums and design shops. Filling up my inspiration pocket and come back with a taste for more!

WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR EMERGING DESIGNERS?

Through the years I've learnt to do things my own way and in my own pace, and above all to trust and follow my intuitions. That is my advice for those just starting on their design journey.
